Eyes are the most precious body parts that any person can have. They give colours to life and they are, in fact, the one of the first things that people notice when looking into a person’s face and are the best organ to express one’s emotion and mood. If you take good care of your eyes, your eyes will shines and you will appear healthy. Glowing eyes exudes confidence and vigour while a pair of weary eye only spells lifelessness.

Maintaining a pair of good looking eyes may not be an easy task. Nowadays, you can find countless number of eye care kits, cosmetics and make up. Some of these things may contain chemicals that irritate the sensitive eyes. One should exercise caution when choosing the right treatment for your eyes. And I would like to share some of my tips with you that will help make your eyes sparklingly good looking.

  1. Rest well: Like any other body parts, the eyes need rest after a long day of work. Peering into the computer monitor, looking into glaring light for long hours or simply working on small fine detailed structure do strain the eyes. The eyes need adequate rest after these strenuous activities. Simple having adequate sleep at night make wonders.  Another things you can do for those who always in front of the computer, is to close your eyes and count to 10 every half an hour of using the computer, or try to look away from the screen and focus on some faraway object, as often as possible. If you train yourself into the habit, your eyes should feel much better at the end of your working day.

  1. Protect your eyes from UV rays. It is proven that UV rays can seriously damage your eyes, but good sun glasses can prevent this damage. Please select sun glasses that can block at least 98% of the UV radiation. Malaysia is a tropical country which is sunny through out the years. Don’t forget your sun glasses when you are out under the sun, just like the skin needs sunblock, our eyes do need sunglasses.

  1. Good supplement for you and your eyes. Recent studies have shown that vitamins of the antioxidant group can prevent, or at least slow down, age-related conditions like macular degeneration and the development of cataracts. Laboratory studies have provided preliminary evidence that bilberry consumption may inhibit or reverse eye disorders such as macular degeneration. Bilberries are recognized as a good source of flavonoids which have strong antioxidative activity. You can get bilberry extract from most of the pharmacy in Malaysia. Besides bilberry, Vitamins C, A and E, folic acid, selenium and zinc are also beneficial for the health of your eyes.

  1. Good Lighting It is a common knowledge that poor lighting can cause eyestrain, but light that is too bright can do as much damage as well. The best lighting for working on the computer is ceiling light from above or alternatively a soft desk light, coming from the side. You can try decreasing the brightness of your monitor. The image won't be so stunning, but your eyes will feel much better by the end of the day.

  1. Regular Eye Check: Get an eye check up every year when you hit thirty five and above. Many eye diseases progress slowly with no symptoms at all, catching many people by surprise. When vision symptoms become obvious, some irreversible damage would have already been made. Regular tests will help to detect any eye problem early and slow down, or even stop, the progression of some diseases before any permanent harm occur.

  1. Pampering at night: After a long day, before you go to bed, you can pamper your eye by applying cucumber, or eye masks that you can easily get over the counter to return the hydration of the skin surrounding the eyes. The natural ingredients in the cucumber are eye-friendly goodness, such as fruit acid, vitamin A and C, magnesium and calcium. It is significantly known for its soothing properties helping to relax your eyes and reduce redness of your eyes. Eye mask that contain hyaluronic acid, vit c, rose extract will have help to revive the skin as well.
